This is Alejandrina. I don't know much about her, as I have just been assigned her correspondent. In case you don't know what that means, I will tell you. One of the most important aspects of sponsorship is letter writing. It is through the letters that you build a relationship with your child and tangibly show them your love.
But some sponsors are either unable or unwilling to write to their children. They have money to sponsor a child, but lack the time or ability to write. That is where correspondents come in. People like me, who love to write letters to the kids, step up and fill that role. I have had such a great experience doing this, and have even acquired a few new sponsorships this way. You see, when a sponsor stops sending the money, Compassion will contact the correspondent to see if he or she wants to pick up the financial side of the sponsorship (since there is already a relationship established). As you can imagine, it can be tough on the kids to lose their relationship with their sponsor (or correspondent).
Anyway, the Peruvian child I was corresponding with for about a year recently left the program. I quickly requested a new child in Peru, so I could maximize my visit and meet them. I was sent the photo and profile of this beautiful girl.
As I said at the beginning, I don't know much about her, but I am so excited to begin our relationship with a meeting face to face! I am so thankful I get to meet her, spend the day with her and get to know her better. I can't wait to tell you more about her after I meet her.
