#275 - A New Journey

After a year and a half of following a minimalist blog, I am ready to call myself an aspiring minimalist.

What is a minimalist? There are many definitions, but for me it is clearing away the clutter and surrounding myself with the basics - the essentials.

Maybe it's the multiple moves we have made over the past 3 years. Maybe it's the upcoming move to a new house. Maybe it's linked to the spiritual journey I've been on this past year. Maybe I'm sick and tired of spending so much of my time organizing and taking care of our stuff.

Whatever the impetus, I'm ready to have less stuff.

And so I purge, donate and sell.

I have a really, really long way to go, but I am thankful for the freedom I feel each time something unnecessary leaves my home. I will never whittle my possessions down to 100 items like some minimalists have done, but I will carefully consider each and every purchase I make from this point out.

Oh I think you might need another blog for this... a how-to for people who WANT to go that route but still have desire for their stuff... I can see me asking you for lots of advice in a couple years! (probably not the best time to start with a baby on the way, ah! although what a great way to control the 'stuff' hmm) AWESOME Jill, can't wait to follow this journey!
