#127 - Help and Hope for Haiti

I amazed at the call for help and the response within the blogging community right now. Many, many, many of the blogs I read are calling for action.

I have many friends through my Compassion family of advocates and sponsors who are praying and waiting to hear if their sponsored children are alive. Kevin and I were actually in the process of adding a Haitian LDP student to our own family when this earthquake hit, but are now waiting to hear about Bildad (the nursing student),and if or how she has been affected.

Thankfully, Compassion's Haitian office is still standing. Sadly, they anticipate many deaths of sponsored children as well as thousands who will have lost everything. They also anticipate that many of their church-based child development centers will have been destroyed. Compassions serves over 65,000 children in Haiti.

Our family will be donating through Compassion and their efforts to help the children they already serve. Compassion works through the local church and their efforts have tremendous impacts on the communities where the churches are located. In addition to the amount Kevin and I have agreed on, I will match your contributions through Compassion (up to $150). Please use the link on the side bar to donate to Compassion's disaster relief fund for Haiti and leave me a comment.

There are bloggers like Money Saving Mom and the Finer Things who are matching donations if you link to them or leave a comment. Money Saving Mom is donating $10 for every blog post written and linked about what you are personally doing...that's amazing!

I am so thankful to see God's children stepping forward and giving. Let's continue to get on our knees and lift the people in Haiti up to our God.
