#50 - Moving Week

I am so thankful that moving week is finally here! We have fully enjoyed another summer in the UP, but have had this cross-country move looming over us. And so I can say that I am thankful we are in the homestretch and can begin the next chapter in our lives.

Please keep us in your prayers for the next couple weeks as we travel and adjust....

#49 - Worship

I am so thankful for the wonderful opportunities I have had to worship God this weekend! There is nothing quite like worshiping in a stadium full of other women (and a few brave men!). Beth Moore's worship band, led by Travis Cottrell, was amazing!

I just can't stop singing...

and now I'm off to church where my very own man is playing drums today!

#48 - An Uninterrupted Night

One of my children has never been a good sleeper. She wakes up almost nightly needing to use the restroom and has recently begun having bad dreams. So it's not unusual to have her in our bed for a hour or two every night.

But not last night! She slept ALL night...for that I am thankful!

#45 - Pictured Rocks

Today we went on the Pictured Rocks Cruise and saw some beautiful examples of God's creation! We tried to do this last year (two days in a row), but couldn't due to weather. So I am very thankful we had this opportunity before we move! Check out these pictures and video....

This is Miner's Castle

This is called Lover's Leap

This is called Indian Head...

#44 - Details Falling Into Place

I am SO thankful that all the details of this move seem to be falling into place...it makes it so much easier, knowing it's God's will for our family. Things like selling our house with only 2 showings, finding a house to rent only 7 miles from Kevin's new job, getting to enjoy another summer in the UP, selling our big items like car, kayaks, snow blower ...these are all signs to us of God's provision!

And I'm so thankful I don't have to do the packing myself. It's allowing me to really enjoy each last day here. Like today...we are going on a tour of the local dairy. If I was having to do the packing, my girls would be sitting in front of a movie while I was putting things in boxes.

God is so good!

#43 - A Good Series

I love to read...and I just finished an excellent series called Chronicles of the Kings by Lynn Austin. It's a set of 5 books that take a look first at the reign of King Hezekiah and then King Manasseh. They were so well written and brought the Bible story to life. I loved how Lynn Austin had Isaiah prophesying to the kings. Thanks, Mom H, for recommending them and letting me borrow them!

#42 - My Violin

I've played the violin for almost 26 years now. I've had this particular one for about 14 years. When I was in college and graduate school there were days when the sight of it disgusted me...but lately I've found myself longing for a few minutes to just play. It seems I get so caught up in being mommy and homemaker that I often forget there are other interests that make me who I am. And so today I took the opportunity to play...it was only 10 minutes, but I am thankful for that time.

#41 - My Fellow Compassion Advocates

I had a conference call with other Compassion Advocates and Area Coordinators in the NW Region today, and after I got off the call my spirits were lifted. There was nothing particular anyone said, but it was a wonderful feeling to connect with like-minded people.

Sunday Lyrics

We sang this song at church today and this particular verse struck a chord with me...

from Blessed Be Your Name by Matt Redman
Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

#40 - My Online Bible Study

This is my 4th Beth Moore study with this group and it's just what I need. We've done Stepping Up, Breaking Free, Living Free and are now doing Esther.

I'm thankful for this opportunity and for all the ladies I'm getting to know!

As I reflect on our day, I am thankful for the opportunities we had to enjoy and experience the beautiful Lake Superior today...first with swimming and then with a family canoe outing.

#38 - This Song and Its Message

I love music...almost all kinds.

Today I heard this song and was so thankful for its message....

Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
Ones that are far beyond my reach.
Give me your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see

This is my prayer today

Sunday Lyrics

These lyrics really spoke to me at church today....

Holiness, Holiness is what I long for
Holiness is what I need
Holiness, Holiness is what you want for me

Faithfulness, Faithfulness is what I long for
Faithfulness is what I need
Faithfulness, Faithfulness is what you want for me

So, take my heart and form it.
Take my mind and transform it.
Take my will and conform it.
To Yours, to Yours, oh, Lord.

Righteousness, Righteousness is what I long for
Righteousness is what I need
Righteousness, Righteousness is what you want for me

Brokenness, Brokenness is what I long for
Brokenness is what I need
Brokenness, Brokenness is what you want for me.

#37 - Dominic

This is Dominic

I sponsor Dominic through Compassion International...I've sponsored him the longest of all our children...over 10 years now.

Imagine how my heart soared when I read this letter from him today.

"I would like to thank you very much for your support. You have made me to be a responsible person in my life. You have made my life to have a very strong foundation, this is because your support made me to complete both my primary and secondary school. And still with your support I will be able to join a nursing college. You have made me to grow healthy, spiritually, economically and socially while in the project. You are more than a friend in my life. May God of heaven who united us make you a prospering person in life. Your support to me will be recognized today, tomorrow and in the future."

As Dominic mentioned, I truly believe that God ordained this young man to be part of my life. I feel privileged and honored to know him. I am so thankful for him.

#36 - Day at the Beach

I am thankful for yet another relaxing afternoon at the beach with my family. It was sunny and relatively warm (mid 60s), so Kevin took the afternoon off and we went to one of our favorite spots!

#35 - My Town

Today I am thankful for the beauty that surrounds me where I live. I will miss this area when we leave, but I'm sure there will be more beauty for me to enjoy in my new surroundings!

#34 - Health and Safe Return of Hubby

Today I am thankful for my health....I was sick for a couple days and it was no fun!

I am also thankful for the safe return of Kevin. He flew out to Portland to find us a place to live. He did make an offer on a house and if it's not accepted, we have a house to rent lined up. We are fine with either option and should know by the end of the week which one will work out.
