Today we visit another child development center. We will learn more about holistic child development and what that means specifically for children of this community. We will tour the classrooms and child development center office and then get to interact with the children (give lots of hugs!)
We will divide into smaller groups and do more home visits, learning more about the realities of poverty as well as the hope and opportunities provided to overcome them.
We'll return to the child development center to once again serve the children lunch.
In the afternoon we will be working together to provide some vacation Bible school activities for the children. I am on the games committee, so I'm hopeful for lots of fun and smiles.
In the evening, we will have the privilege to meet and hear from several emerging young leaders - students enrolled in Compassion's Leadership Development Program. These are young men and women who stood against all odds and became Christian leaders prepared to change their families, churches, communities and quite possibly even their nation. It's possible one of them will be David, the LDP student with whom I correspond.
I think this is a great way to spend my 36th birthday!
Again, please pray for the children and staff we meet today. Pray for our team as we serve this project with VBS activities. Pray for the LDP students we meet - that God would continue to raise them up to serve Him throughout their community and country.
