I am planning to go to Peru in August with Compassion International. This is an advocate tour and my first opportunity to see Compassion's work with my own eyes. I am very excited. Although we do not sponsor any children in Peru, I have recently begun corresponding with a boy named Claudio. It will be fun to meet him and get to know him even better. His birthday is January 9...same as Sydney!
Anyway, I put my name on a waiting list to correspond with an LDP student and mentioned that if any were available in Peru, that would be ideal since I am going there. I got a phone call that David, a third year LDP student, has never had anyone correspond with him. Just today, I received his photograph and information about him. I am excited to get to know him, and then meet him face to face.
God is so good...even in the little details of our lives. I am thankful for this opportunity - both to correspond with David and eventually meet him.

This is so awesome Jill! You're going to love meeting him, I know. What a great moment that will be -- LDP -- woohoo! I'm so thankful he finally has a correspondent now, too. This could be a turning point in his life --
Oh, and I'll see if Chris wants to send a gift to his kid in Peru! Ha!
That's so exciting about the trip!!! I can't wait to hear all about it!
Awesome Jill! SO excited about your trip. I would love, love to visit a project. I visited two of my sponsored children in 1997 but they were with a different org.
David and I were planning to go to Guatemala a couple years ago but he had a meeting and we didn't go. Tickets were only $350 RT! I would LOVE to meet Hilda - maybe when she's a little older.
Princy is a correspondent child, I posted about her last week. If the estate she's sponsored by is up (over? what's the verb for that?!) then I would have the option to take over. It's been about 8 years now. I didn't realize that some LDP students needed someone - I just thought that since it was more then surely they had a sponsor and not a corporate or estate type situation. I may call Compassion about that - what a great opportunity with an 'older' child!
Can't wait to hear about your trip! Maybe I should have emailed... this is a long comment! :)
That is so amazing. I love how the Father fits all these details together. :-) Can't wait to hear more.
